ViBE
Overview
ViBE (Voice over Internet protocol Bandwidth Enhancer) is patent pending technology designed to maximise and tailor the use of your IP connectivity for both data and voice.
ViBE enables the delivery of business quality telephony alongside existing data requirements over IP links previously not best suited to VoIP (such as broadband and megastream circuits).
The generally accepted 'truth' is that using ADSL for VoIP will restrict you to 3 or 4 simultaneous calls, and to hope for anything approaching acceptable quality, the connection should not be used concurrently for data. Existing QoS (quality of service) techniques fall short of being able to manage voice priorities over IP connections of that size, resulting in unacceptable speech delays and intermittent quality issues.
ViBE addresses these issues. It allows voice and data to share the same connection, and delivers up to 25 simultaneous calls of business quality over a standard 512Kb / 256Kb ADSL connection, whilst ensuring enough data bandwidth is available for critical applications.
ViBE is not broadband specific - it delivers a significant benefit on any IP based connection of up to 10Mb/s. A ViBE enabled ISDN2 connection is capable of managing 12 simultaneous calls as well as data, which is invaluable when used as a backup to a broadband connection.
